Dear Friends and Neighbors:
I'm Christine Barber and I am running for Alderman in Ward 4 in Somerville because I love our community and believe we deserve a hard-working advocate who will bring people together and address our shared concerns. Our neighborhoods of Winter Hill and Ten Hills are growing and we need a leader who will listen to your ideas and fight for your interests. As Alderman, I will be a voice for working people in our community. I will make sure that development is truly an investment in our community, and that means creating good jobs for people who live here.

I will work closely with you, the residents of our neighborhoods, to keep this community a great place to live and work. Winter Hill and Ten Hills have remarkable strengths - a diverse mix of people, innovative schools, urban green space, and small businesses that employ people right here in our community. And there are also opportunities that have yet to be addressed - filling the storefronts, keeping housing affordable, making sure our public transportation and streets are safe and accessible for all, and continuing to invest in strong public schools.
For years I have been a committed advocate for working people in the community at local, state and national levels. I understand the struggles of working families. As a leader in the Marshall Street Area Neighborhood Group, I worked with my neighbors to improve our community. I worked at the State House, where I successfully fought for working families and played an integral role in the largest expansion of health care insurance in the history of the Commonwealth. I currently work as a health policy expert for a national health care advocacy organization to ensure that everyone has access to quality, affordable health care.
I possess the experience, skills and motivation to be an outstanding leader for our community, but first I need your VOTE ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 8.
